Best I can find is 1 in 5 defendants who have been arrested so far have served in the military. Not surprising that you'd want to go after those guys first.

In case y'all missed this nugget of bizarreness. According to Reuters (by way of court documents), Proud Boys leader was an FBI informant in the past. Do hateful shit, get arrested. Subject yourself to exposure as a rat by getting arrested for doing hateful shit. This stupidity knows no bounds.

[Washington Post article about Rittenhouse, whose title keeps morphing]

Summary:
    - the address he gave the court in December was fake, someone else lived there
    - detectives discovered this by showing up and meeting the actual resident, who is unconnected
    - his lawyers say he & his degenerate mother are in a "safe house" due to threats... vague on the content of the threats
    - on Wednesday, his lawyers gave the court an updated address, under seal
    - when asked by journalists, the court clerk said there's an updated address but it's under seal
    - prosecutor on Thursday revealed the address under seal is a PO box
    - his lawyer says he was told by a Kenosha police captain to fill out the old address, and that they'd "deal with it later"
    - police spokesperson calls bullshit, says the person named wasn't working that day & wasn't a captain, and that a different captain discussed safety issues but not how to fill out the form
    - the lawyer says he's "almost certain" the police captain gave him the advice

“The reality is, in a homicide case, the cash bail is usually going to be set pretty high and most people facing that — not all but most — are lower-income and have no hope of posting the bail,” said Keith A. Findley, a law professor at the University of Wisconsin and a former public defender. “And Mr. Rittenhouse would’ve been in that general category as well were it not for the fact that there was this fundraising effort on his behalf that is not typical.”

Understatement of the century.

Seditionaries: FBI net closes on Maga mob that stormed the Capitol(Guardian)

An amusing update - 235 arrests so far, 26 charged with conspiracy and assault (up to 20 years in jail). This is now one of the largest FBI investigations in history.

Hilariously, many of the charged are trying to use the defence that the (then) President told them to do it...

A letter attributed to former undercover NYPD officer Raymond Wood, claims that he was pressured by FBI/NYPD to involve 2 of Malcolm X's bodyguards in activities including "a plot to bomb the Statue of Liberty", leading to their arrest a few days before X was assassinated (the bodyguards being unable to provide door security at the Audubon Ballroom where he was gunned down). Wood indicated that he was afraid to reveal this during life, and gave instructions for posthumous release.

The full press conference (from Saturday night) is tedious. A summary can be found here (Spectrum News NY1). Unclear when Wood died, but the release of his letter was probably timed to coincide with the anniversary of X's murder, for maximum coverage.

In sleuthing by Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, covered in the Netflix series Who Killed Malcolm X?, there's intriguing footage of a likely shooter walking calmly past NYPD officers, while they're intercepting other black men just outside the ballroom.

:dunno:

NY authorities issued platitudes. FBI not commenting.

Cops have been shooting people all over Maine lately. A young man in Aroostook was killed the other day. No details given.

It's alarming, but unfortunately not surprising to me anymore. This is a double murder, triple shooting by someone who crossed state lines with a large gun to obviously stir up serious trouble. Not a universally loved member of the community who got caught in a dui. Just despicable.

I smile inside when I hear of a cop getting killed. I see how they treat those they purport to serve. Fuck 'em. It is a profession without honor.

Pigs fail to understand the meaning of the word "uniform". They wear that uniform, they are all the same. The pigs who kill us do not operate in a vacuum. They work among their friends and colleagues, who do fucking nothing about the pig problem.

There are no good cops.

Yeah, like this.

“Ms. Garner’s experience with Loveland Police is not about bad apples,” says her attorney, Sarah Schielke. “It is about culture. And the culture in Loveland is one of lack of care, lack of humility. Loveland Police officers have enrobed themselves with a completely unaccountable authoritarian superiority. They demand total obedience and submission from everyone – including the disabled elderly – and if you don’t immediately capitulate, they will make you pay for it.”

“This is not community policing. This is community terrorism,” says Schielke. “Ms. Garner is one of the most vulnerable members of our community – a mother, a grandmother, a tiny, frail human with cognitive disabilities – and they treated her like an animal.” “And,” adds Schielke, “if this is what they’re doing to a terrified elderly lady with dementia, what do you think they’re doing to everyone else?”

A former Minneapolis police officer called Derek Chauvin's guilty verdict a 'tragedy,' saying he fears it will start a 'new trend' of sending cops to prison

He whined how the whole thing was just sad, a lose-lose situation for everybody. Like it was some unfortunate thing that just happened on its own.

Yeah.

A situation the pigs caused when they executed a man in the street. At least this time, the pig gets to lose as well.

This is a bit old but relevant to the thread. No wonder these fuckwits are so quick to pull the trigger. Cops and citizens are predators and prey to these sociopaths.
