Russia is expanding its sphere of influance in diplomacy, the military and economics.
I think all these should be of a concern to the U.K. Especialy when linked tto a nationalist feelind in the 'Motherland'.

Do they have dashcams on those ships? Will we get some fresh Russian crash videos out of this?

Realistically, the Russian Navy isn't out to nuke anybody, and if they sailed a warship close to Scotland or within her 200 mile limit and it exhibited warlike tendencies, both the British and US Navies and God knows the French would be there in a heartbeat warning them off or otherwise shooing them away

And this despite whatever relations that might exist between the UK and Scotland.

And don't forget, I have a ginger beard too!

My grandfather on my mother's side was from Edinburgh. It's in the blood you know.

Scottish is a state of mind.

An RAF Typhoon scrambled to see off two Russian jets off the north east coast again! :waah:

It used to happen a lot back in the Cold War. We'd send jets over to test their defences too.

The timing of these two incidents suggests a little more sabre-rattling but people suggesting this shows a weakness in UK defences are missing the point. On both occasions the Russians were picked up and seen off well before they would have been able to do any damage.

They sort of did. The planes intercepted by the Dutch would've been about as close as Russia could get to London without actually starting a war with several countries. 200 miles from Scotland there's a lot more open space to play in.
