I know ex-presidents are still addressed as 'Mr President' but are they still allowed to call themselves President?

They said "Thank you".
Exactly. Now they don't have to deliberate on it. Trump wrote that he couldn't care less, then a bunch of sentences indicating that he could. :)

Trump's impeachment lawyer's strategy is to...name drop and curry favour with Senators?

Meanwhile, in the Senate:

(In case anyone missed it!)

Anyone who thinks that just Donald Trump is on trial hasn't been paying attention.

Your second comment is, I dunno, neither here nor there. In a manner of speaking, everything is on trial these days, and that is something you may want to invest in getting used to. As for your first comment, do you think it likely that anyone (who dat?) has missed it? I mean, do you really think anyone here missed it who cares enough to care that they missed it? Caring upon caring!

In another sense, of course, there is stuff that isn't on trial. Here:

Well I was mainly trying to stimulate some conversation other than Mike's conspiracy theories (hence the popcorn), but if you just want to troll people personally with snarky comments then that's a thing and people will draw their own conclusions.

"Flat earth" ''science" IS a conspiracy theory. You might not get this, but all conspiracy theories are about the same thing, which is to help the theorist feel clever. Or did you just want to make some chit-chat in an effort to feel clever?

If you set your mind to it and really grind away for a couple of hours, I'm confident you can work this one out. Or did you just want me to violate the FUA in order to communicate with you?

They just non-convicted the sniffing ex-president. 57-43 was the final vote. How depressing. Thanks again, Nancy Pelosi, for setting it up to fail again. Way too narrow of scope. Thanks Republicans for being so spineless. And god blesh, the United Shatesh.

Biden imposes sanctions on Myanmar’s military leaders following coup
Measures include freezing access to US-based assets and new export controls

And who do the United States think they are to criticise others in this regard now?

That's not what whataboutism is. Whataboutism applies when you have people pointing out something someone else did in a way that's completely unrelated.

The US here is trying to impose sanctions on another nation for staging a coup when they've just had an attempted one and have let the main perpetrator get away. They've no legitimacy any more in telling other nations how to comport themselves when they can't even do the same themselves.

it would be hypocracy if it was Trump, after a successful coup, imposing sanctions.

As it is, the legitimate administration of the USA is imposing sanctions on an illegitimate regime.

and while we are at it
Animavore wrote:And who do the United States think they are to criticise others in this regard now?

if you look at history, the US of A have lost the legitimacy to criticize pretty much anyone shortly after they came to existance.
It has never stopped them before.

That may be the case, but it might not be how it will be perceived by anyone who wishes to simply ignore the US going forward.
