It started at Trump tower meeting before the election. President Doofus probably knew it would end badly. But could not resist the power for a while.
"I'll show those liberals!"
In fact the Democrats will have to impeach him sometime before the election. It will not hurt Democrat votes and 40% will vote Trump no matter what.

https://www.npr.org/2019/05/13/72243830 ... mpeachment
Trump's decision to invoke executive privilege over the full report by special counsel Robert Mueller is prompting impeachment skeptics like Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., to reconsider.

"I have to be honest with you, I once said I would be the last person standing against impeachment, and now, I'm squatting," Cleaver told NPR.

Over 180 countries -- not including the US -- agree to restrict global plastic waste trade
https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/11/world/basel-convention-plastic-waste-trade-intl/

The governments of 187 countries have agreed to control the movement of plastic waste between national borders, in an effort to curb the world's plastic crisis -- but the United States was not among them.

Nations agreed to add plastic to the Basel Convention, a treaty that regulates movement of hazardous materials from one country to another, in order to combat the dangerous effects of plastic pollution around the world.
The pact was approved at the end of a two-week meeting of UN-backed conventions in Geneva, Switzerland.
But the US was not involved in the decision-making process, as it is one of just two countries that have not ratified the agreement.

Also it seems the DoE is going to give the middle finger to lightbulb efficiency so manufacturers can go back to selling incandescents yearly. How soon until oil lamps are brought back?

Curiosity got the better of me when that article didn't mention the other country not to sign up to the Basel deal, but a dozen reports from various sources later, I'm none the wiser.

If I read this right it seems to me that House of Representatives council effectively told SDNY that Trump can get fucked if he thinks he can block the subpoenas;

Opposition of House council to plaintiffs motion for preliminary injunction

From that document, this sentence is particularly noteworthy:

Mr. Trump’s argument that the Committees have “no urgent need for the subpoenaed documents,” Pls.’ Mem. at 14, is not only wrong—given the pressing nature of the investigations—it is also an improper usurpation of Congress’s constitutional power to investigate and conduct oversight. [My emphasis]

That on its own detonates a nuclear depth charge under Trump's attempt to launch a preliminary injunction.

Then we have this:

For the same reasons, the public interest strongly supports denial of the requested relief. There is a “clear public interest in maximizing the effectiveness of the investigatory powers of Congress,” and “the investigatory power is one that the courts have long perceived as essential to the successful discharge of the legislative responsibilities of Congress.” Exxon Corp., 589 F.2d at 594. Plaintiffs’ contrary argument ignores the clear and compelling public interest in expeditious and unimpeded Congressional investigations into core aspects of the financial and election systems that touch every member of the public. And Mr. Trump provides no legitimate reason why the public would be served by delaying the Committees from obtaining the records necessary to carry out their constitutional oversight and legislative duties.

And that's a second nuclear depth charge under his plans.

At bottom, what those words above imply, without actually stating this explicitly, is that Trump's preliminary injunction constitutes a de facto attempt to supplant Congressional powers with a self-serving autocracy. Though the fine legal gentlemen as usual, are suitably cautious with their language in this vein. That's the unwritten subtext beneath the technical arguments about the hierarchy of jurisdictions.

There could an affect on Laptops and smartphones with this continued Trump-China pissing match;

Laptops and smartphones next to be hit by Trump tariffs

If approved, this proposal would affect effectively any consumer product that wasn't hit by previous rounds of tariffs. This could have a great effect on companies that manufacture their laptops, smartphones, tablets or other electronics in China, such as Apple and Microsoft, as well as one company based overseas that ships to the U.S. to sell their products.

Don't think Cook would be all that thrilled.

It's interesting that a conman should become a president and simply tell people what fantastic things he is doing and THEY BELIEVE him!

A majority, 54 percent, say they think Trump has been successful in business, the poll shows, while 36 percent say he has been unsuccessful. One in 10 voters say they have no opinion about his success.

Fully 85 percent of Republican voters say Trump has been successful, while only 10 percent say he’s been unsuccessful. Democratic voters see Trump’s business career differently: Three in 10, 30 percent, say he’s been successful, while 61 percent say he’s been unsuccessful. Among independents, 49 percent say Trump has been successful, and 34 percent say he’s been unsuccessful.
