Big voter purges in Wisconsin and Georgia. I'm sure this is all innocent, routine housekeeping, and not a part of a larger effort to suppress the vote.

Wisconsin plans to purge 234,000 voters; Democratic governor won by 30,000

Judge allows Georgia to purge 309K voter registrations overnight

are there still people who don’t keep their voter registration up to date?

Every time I hear about this I think: WTF?
What countries require voter registration?
Not done here in Canada.

well, yeah.
there is the general „WTF voter registration?“
and then there is the specific „haven’t you got the memo yet?“
keep it up to date, give them no excuse to take you of the register!

We have an independent department that runs elections. Evidence based and no tampering.

Can all these people get themselves back onto being able to vote? It looks to me like what you'd expect in Russia and other autocratic states.

I think all they have to do is re-register with their current address.

We have a toothless kitten of an electoral commission that does the square root of fuck all when elections are interfered with.

The problem is that people are not aware they were erased. They show up to vote and cast a provisional vote. They then have 36 hours to renew an ID and show up with the current ID and second piece of paper to prove your residence. During a work week, the 36 hours is for poor people.

You can of course do all that in good time, but not every county informs voters. I get a card for every election telling where to vote.

The Republican party has reached the next level. We are now entering sedition territory.

NPR wrote:Washington Legislator Matt Shea Accused Of 'Domestic Terrorism,' Report Finds

Six-term Washington state Rep. Matt Shea is accused of participating "in an act of domestic terrorism against the United States," according to a report released Thursday.

Independent investigators commissioned by the Washington State House Representatives found that Shea, as a leader of the Patriot Movement, "planned, engaged in, and promoted a total of three armed conflicts of political violence against the United States government" between 2014 and 2016.

The report also concluded, Shea was involved in training young people to fight a "holy war." He created a pamphlet called Biblical Basis for War and advocated replacing the government with a theocracy and "the killing of all males who do not agree."

By the look of it he's had the US equivalent of what in the UK is "having the whip withdrawn" (essentially a suspension of party membership rights).

Given the way the US legislature is structured is it possible to eject a member completely from a party? (BoJo did this recently to 20 odd MP's).

I don't think they can officially remove him from the party, but if they remove him from all committees and caucuses, stop all support and support his primary challengers, it is effectively doing just that. He can keep the R in front of his name as long as he likes.

I guess you can call him a true RINO (Republican in Name Only).

Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

Senate removes phrase 'white nationalist' from measure intended to screen military enlistees - CNNPolitics
The Republican-controlled Senate quietly cut the phrase "white nationalist" from a measure in the National Defense Authorization Act, which was intended to explicitly address the threat of white nationalists in the military, altering the language of a House-passed amendment before passing the massive military spending bill Tuesday.

The House amendment, which was passed in July, was drafted to explicitly study the feasibility of screening for white nationalist beliefs in military enlistees.
But the final version of the bill passed by the Senate and sent to President Donald Trump for his signature now only requires the Department of Defense to monitor for "extremist and gang-related activity," rather than specifically referencing white nationalism.

I'm putting this here as a bonus. Clearly the other video put this video onto my YouTube recommends. I only watched the start where she reads out the summary on the back of the book. I will watch it at some point because so far so hilarious. I'm just not watching two of these in a row.
