Rick Santorum has little sympathy for sick children

#1  Postby GT2211 » Feb 04, 2012 8:01 pm

Nothing like telling a sick child to stop buying iPads and pay for his million dollar a year medication.....

“People have no problem paying $900 for an iPad,” Santorum said, “but paying $900 for a drug they have a problem with — it keeps you alive. Why? Because you’ve been conditioned to think health care is something you can get without having to pay for it.”

The mother said the boy was on the drug Abilify, used to treat schizophrenia, and that, on paper, its costs would exceed $1 million each year.

Santorum said drugs take years to develop and cost millions of dollars to produce, and manufacturers need to turn a profit or they would stop developing new drugs.

Rick Santorum - surely the best argument for a socialised healthcare system.

Doesn't he have one or two really ill children?

I guess it's irrelevant because they can afford therapy.

People spend $900 on an Ipad so socialised healthcare is bad. Brilliant.

I love that the Duggars took over Santorum's campaign while he hung out with his sick kid.

The mental distance between NW Europe and Rick Santorum is ... really, really big. Meaning, he is so far out, so far away that we need gravitational lensing for spotting him.

The idea behind socialised healthcare is that one pays for it. That everyone pays for it. The only difference is that us communist Europeans think is acceptable is that the rich pay more than the poor.

There are communist Europeans saner than Rick Santorum, to bring an old meme back to life.

Who buys an iPad 3 times a day?
Apart from that: It´s no wonder Santorum doesn´t understand how insurance works, after all the maths that goes into that was invented in large parts to figure out how evolution works and it´s key in understanding the scientific basis of anthropogenic global warming. In some way all aspects of human understanding are interconnected and aparently the converse holds as well: The same connections also apply to human ignorance.

Nah, that explaination is far too complicated. Santorum is just an arsehole.

I can't believe how a presidential candidate can say such a thing and not be immediately axed by his party. Can anyone imagine a European country where a politician would even dare to say something like this?

Wait long enough, and if Cameron has his way, the UK will be next. But I digress.

Well, most of you people don't want to be European in the first place, so you silly islanders don't count anyway.

Also, people pay upwards of $1000 for televisions. Ergo, water shouldn't be a public utility.

I mentioned on another thread I'm not sure where the $1 million a year figure comes from. Here in Canada a year's worth of Abilify will cost about $1500.

Actually, those who have actually spent some time interacting in some meaningful manner with their fellow Europeans don't have a problem with this. It's quite funny seeing people whose sole contact with Europe consists of Spanish holidays, where they never move more than a few yards from the English pubs and the fish and chip shops, following the tabloid line about the purported ills of Europe, yet being quite happy to spend money on German lager, French and Italian wine, aspire to own a BMW or Mercedes, and lust after Swedish blondes.

There's so much wrong here.

First of all, he's espousing social darwinism - this should be spelled out absolutely fucking clearly to him.

Secondly, correct me if I am wrong, but as a Senator, the little fucker and his family get medical aid from the government, paid for by taxpayers throughout the country.

Someone ought to be paid to slap him every time he says such idiotic, self-serving bollocks.

He's not a Senator. He was voted out in 2006, in what was the most lopsided defeat for an incumbent in a generation. However, I don't know if he continues to receive benefits after leaving office. It'd be important to know that, as it would just add to the hypocrisy of this frothy little piece of shit and lube.
