A 43 year old primary school pricipal was in an entirely legal, consensual lesbian relationship with a 16 year old.

The 16 year old sent her older lover explicit Snapchat photos of herself.

Somehow the police were alerted and the principal ended up being prosecuted and convicted under child pornography laws due to a legal anomaly that prohibits accessing such imagery of persons under 18 years of age.

The principal has been banned from teaching, sentenced to 200 hours unpaid work and must attend “rehabilitation” and sign the sex offenders register.

The 16 year old is distraught and has become socially isolated since the photos were discovered.

Sounds like there's probably even more than the aforementioned 'more to the story'. Like why were police searching her phone in the first place?

Having looked further it seems that the 16 year old's mother found out about it and was pissed off, so it looks like she reported the affair.

However, at that point the police should have said she was of the legal age of consent, and that there was no impingement on the principal's workplace responsibilities. I understand the mum was furious but from a legal perspective this has turned in to a morality driven witch hunt.
