By your logic there is no such thing as discrimination of any sort because we can't read minds and observing statistical differences in treatment of people by race or gender is something you seem to rate as worthless opinion.

Your hypothetical employment scenario was pointless given your attitude. Still, it does highlight the absurdity of your position.

So we have an aetist that has been accused of racism before, who mischaracterised Williams opponent as a petite, blond white woman and Williams, who doesn't have huge lips, gets drawn with them.

It's not conclusively racist of course but it certainly raises questions which is why you would look into the artists history for more examples.

Going by the picture, as I previously stated you just need to draw a person, colour them black and give them all big lips apparently because why? Does he lack the artistic skill to do any better? But I suppose it works as a template for a generic black person, right?

Well, you wouldn’t want to confuse her with other black people in tennis.... oh wait.

LOL... I think I see some form of that statement in every thread immediately following every pile-on by the kiddie-clique.

I wonder what the common denominator is?

You doing the kiddie-clique pile-on, it seems. Oh no wait, when you do it, it's the adult-clique pile-on  So, when does the adult-clique grow out of dismissing arguments because they're offended by the number of people they perceive as agreeing with it? Looks a lot more like teenage reactionary to me.

No, Georges Remi (Hergé) did that with Tintin in the Congo (1931)...

The book is restricted in some countries (not displayed on bookshelves) and outright banned in others...

But Mark Knight's cartoon is nothing like those drawings. He has captured Serena's essential features and drawn her as she was on the day (angry and loud). Insensitive it may be, but it is nothing like the "coon caricatures" or "Sambo cartoons" to which it is being likened.

Because only one of those two is in a position to know INTENT.

Well that was an underwhelming non-answer. It still looks like you're saying it's NOT possible to determine anything is racist unless the person doing the thing says so. I'm sure the folks whose only joy is triggering the libs will wholeheartedly agree with you.

I suppose we'd need to see other pictures of other races like asian people with huge slit eyes or jewish people all drawn with massive noses right?

He's as inept at caricature as you are at apologetics.

Knight could post a picture of a donut with a broken tennis racket, and you'd say it was a dead ringer. Cuz context! Not very impressive, but at least it tells everyone about intent.

Yes, that cartoon does not draw on racial stereotypes whatsoever.

This about sums it up. Serena is hulking with the exaggerated features of black carricature that we’ve been seeing for 100 years. Her “victims,” light, slender, human. Got it. https://twitter.com/Knightcartoons/stat ... 9030393856

Me, I try to look at the whole person, and not just at the football-shaped head. But here's the thing, SAM: There's people of all phenotypes who, if you cut off all their hair, have, guess what? football shaped heads, such as pointy-headed intellectuals. In a caricature, this might be exaggerated, but you get the picture.

It's not remotely close to that. So, no, it doesn't.

The so called caricature gives Serena a wide jaw and a narrow forehead. Her face shape is exactly the opposite.

If that’s a caricature then my bank account is a hedge fund.

Also a wierd pose and jumping up and down. What's that about? A reference to an angry ape?

All together we have racists tropes, dehumanising depiction and whitewashing the others in the scene. It all looks very "bad racism" to me.
Why do you think that?

Nice to see we've still got a healthy population of dismissive racists here.

Which is why I posted actual caricatures a few pages back that some people didn't get.
