The Federalist Society

A bit badly named for the public, but they know who they are. Libertarians. They want the judicial branch strong, but the rest of the federal government weak.

They are he only group that will gain from the Trump era

They want conservative judges to have the power to steer us to a libertarian state with "freedoms" not limited by Congress. Federal agencies and control should disappear. Social security and abortion? Remove.

Libertarians who want to roll back Roe v. Wade?

I'm having more and more difficulty resolving the arbitrary positions taken by the US right wing. They believe in liberty, unless you are female, or non-Christian, or non-white, or poor, or....

"Americans for a bat-shit crazy judiciary" might be a better name.

So much liberty that the country could turn into something indistinguishable from a fascistic theological nightmare.

Well, remember that a lot of Merkins are dominionist religious nuts... holding positions against big state regulating your lives is not a contradiction to following divine law and enforcing it on everybody... not to them.

Not to mention that to an American, being a libertarian means, that the state should not try and regulate in ways that the person you're talking to is opposed to, but it passing laws and regs in ways that particular person agrees with is fine.

Yes well, the Americans would have all these freedoms of pretty much everything, but the freedoms are mainly for men. The government gets to interfere inside the woman's uterus. Presumably the true libertarians would sound too radical, so you have to throw in some traditional things. And the states also get to be a bit bossy, as long as you get to have guns. You need less guns to keep a state under control than a federal gov't, which has a army.
