Cranky cantankerous old codgerism is a state of mind, not an age.

No. That twitching wing behavior is something that baby birds (of many species) do to invoke a feeding response in the parent, so good news after all.

I think it's a juvenile sparrow being fed by its mother. There's no indication of any ill health at all. It looks fat and is making loud noises.

I was talking to a young Swazi guy yesterday, he sold me my cell modem antenna/amp. He went to the University of Iowa and got a degree in Comp Sci, then came home to Swaziland to work. His business is wholesaling data bandwidth to other companies, he's got maybe 15 big servers hooked up to a satellite ground station. Charges 14 cents a Mb where the cell phone companies charge 80 cents. He still makes a decent living, but most of his profits he reinvests in the community.

He's built 24 solar powered wifi towers in rural areas and gives the internet away for free. Areas where they don't even have running water or electricity. He's also giving away literally hundreds of solar cell phone chargers. He's brought internet to areas that no major company would touch. He's only 33 but he's already a true Dude with a bright future.

Unfortunately he can't open his own internet provider because he's cutting into corporate profits for the big boys, he can only sell it on to other commercial enterprises. They've tried to shut him down but so far he's kept it going. Good on him

Australian flying student makes 'perfect' emergency landing

An Australian man safely landed a light aircraft during his third ever flying lesson, after his instructor blacked out.
In an audio recording from the cockpit, a member of air traffic control staff can be heard guiding Max Sylvester.
He safely landed the Cessna plane at Jandakot Airport in Perth after circling for an hour.
Chuck McElwee, the flight school's owner, said: "There was no damage at all to the plane. Matter of fact, it was a perfect landing
