I felt good when I saw the news tonight, then wanted to share the article but it's nowhere to be found, that some charitable organisation had arranged for houses for people who'd lost everything, including furniture and fittings. One woman who was given one of these houses said "now I am a white person." That made me feel sad, that she should see houses as something only "white" people can aspire to, but I was so happy to see her face when she walked into her brand new house that doesn't have a leaking roof.

Yes, she'd never owned any brand-new furniture before. Now she had a whole house full of it. Lovely feel good stuff. Of course there's no link to the story anywhere. People don't like good news.

That awkward moment when you realise nine-year olds these days are smarter than we are...

I'm a happy camper today. Got my new iPhone yesterday. I suppose it's silly to be happy about some material thing but it also came just after we'd been to see FreeMe, it's a place where injured animals are taken to be treated before being released into the wild again. I was so happy to see so many people there for their fund-raising day and to see the people who work there for no payment happily giving up a public holiday to take care of frightened animals who were in pain. We got to see a civet, a black-backed jackal and a mongoose as well as some birds that we never see up close. It really makes me very happy to know that there are people who care to help animals in trouble. (The iPhone was just because I'm more happy with technology than I am with clothes, jewellery etc.)

It was brilliant. Thank you.

I don't like iOS folders, I like to sort my apps into separate pages and then scroll through them to find the same types of apps on the same pages. Besides I got a one-of-a-kind pen yesterday, with a stylus attached for the iPad, so I can zap around it fairly quickly.

And why not? Good to be happy with something you can use, I think.

Residents of Contamana - a remote town in eastern Peru - came out in force on Wednesday when their local airstrip needed lighting for an emergency medical night-flight.

Hundreds of residents lined their vehicles up alongside the tarmac allowing a charter plane carrying three patients to take off.
