Iv'e been AWL for a long time from this forum, so have no way of proving that before the UK elections, in another place I predicted a Tory win by around 70 seats. My reasoning being, that besides Brexit, most people are scared shitless of socialism as exposed by the anti Semite Corbyn and his comrades.

Pissweak. My prediction was much more accurate. I predicted that the Tories will win 56.2% of the seats in the House of Commons despite only getting 43.6% of the popular vote. My reasoning being, that besides the First Past The Posts electoral system sucking donkeys balls, most people were going to be scared shitless by the relentless fear mongering campaigns of the right-wing gutter media. :P

Many of these folks have been scared shitless by more than one election campaign. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times? Third time's the charm. Some people find that living is being scared shitless.

"The NHS is safe in our hands"? Bollocks. Twat Johnson says he will build 40 new hospitals. Yeah, who for?

Just watching Raab on Adrew Marr I'm struck that Johnson has found the man for the job who will not outshine his predecessor (BJ)

Now this is funny

Dominic Cummings' call for "assorted weirdos" to apply for roles in No 10 has attracted one of the UK's best-known magicians.
Uri Geller, who claims to have psychic powers bestowed on him by aliens, says he has formally applied for a role inside Boris Johnson's administration.

Here's democracy, Tory style.

Scottish Secretary rules out indyref2 even if SNP win 2021 Holyrood majority

"It would be wrong for us to give the right to the Scottish Parliament to set referendums and the context and the timing for the simple reason that we would then be plunged into neverendums.

Is the Tory Scottish Secretary suggesting Scots will keep electing an SNP government (in a PR vote) for the foreseeable future? Wow. That's quite the unfortunate admission.

And despite Mr Jack having previously indicated that an SNP majority in next year's Holyrood election could be the trigger for a second referendum, the Scottish Secretary today ruled this out. "It's about once in a generation and once in a lifetime, that's what people voted for," he said.

Once in a lifetime.

Democracy.

A pro-indy majority at Holyrood? "Not enough."
The SNP winning 80% of Scottish seats at Westminster? "Not enough."
The SNP winning a majority of the popular vote? "Not enough."
So what would be enough, Mr Jack?

SKY's best journo Lewis Goodall moved to BBC over xmas.

This sort of journalism and asking legitimate questions will soon be BBC'd out of him, but for the moment, good on Goodall.

Am intrigued by the PM’s letter. The Conservatives were absolutely clear in their campaign literature what a vote for the SNP would mean. They ended up winning 48/59 seats. What’s changed since December?

Image
Clearly the SNP aren’t in a position to affect a minority govt which is at least part of what the Tories meant. However there is a way in which their message can be interepreted (literally) and that might well cause them problems.

Image
The basic strategic problem for the Scottish Tories is if you keep framing every election as “a vote for the SNP is a vote for independence” and the SNP keeps winning elections, then, well quite obviously you have an issue.

I laughed watching the first Newsnight I knew he was going to be on, as policy editor he was expected to do a little explanation piece to the host, but he seemed to make the very most of his part, talking for ages without leaving a gap for Emily Maitlis getting a word in

Heh, I'm repeatedly left with the impression that if they thought they could get away with it, the Tories would launch Culloden Mk II tomorrow.

My interest in playing the blame game is exactly zero. What I see is a sufficient amount of voters being manipulated by appeals to their fears, hopes and desires. And no, I don't blame the manipulators for what they do either. None of us are anywhere near to being the rational, autonomous entities exercising free will as we like to imagine. Not even those who do have a modicum of capability for cool, calculating analysis.
