It resides in the 'Grove Of Titans' in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, along with a host of seven record breaking trees including the world's biggest tree by mass (Lost Monarch). The exact location is a loosely kept secret which is intended to protect a pocket of ancient woodland, but the Grove Of Titans website does give the location if you want to check it out. A quick scoot round Youtube revealed quite a few unsanctioned redwood-spotters.

Will definitely check this out. A few years ago, I camped under a huge redwood at a state park in Marin Co. and trotted around the John Muir Woods. There are some very large cedars, pines and non-native Giant Sequoias right up the road from where I live. And it's probably a good thing to keep it a secret: the largest discovered Joshua Tree used to be just north of here, but a few years ago, some yahoos shot the shit out of its trunk, causing it to topple over. Yahoos, unfortunately, are found in great abundance here in SoCal...
