Conservapedia is a prime example of what happens when a bullshit artist has access to global Internet reach. A bullshit artist who, moreover, is full of butthurt because he's had his arse cheeks handed to him by a tenured professional scientist. Google "Lenski Affair". :)

Macdoc wrote:somebody got it early on - bet that's why Magellan is not so well known despite his accomplishments

That quote has never been sourced to Magellan. It's extremely unlikely he, or anyone else of the same period, said anything like that, given that the Church did not believe that the Earth was flat. There were a few people who believed it, but they were an extreme minority. Almost every educated person from at least the Greeks onward was well aware of the sphericity of the Earth.

Sailors have been aware of it since time immemorial. The sails of ships appear over the horizon before the hull.
We are alive, so the universe must be said to be alive. We are its consciousness as well as our own. We rise out of the cosmos and see its mesh of patterns, and it strikes us as beautiful. And that feeling is the most important thing in all the universe.

Does this fit here?

"Unlike the "modern math" theorists, who believe that mathematics is a creation of man and thus arbitrary and relative, A Beka Book teaches that the laws of mathematics are a creation of God and thus absolute....A Beka Book provides attractive, legible, and workable traditional mathematics texts that are not burdened with modern theories such as set theory." — ... ax-dollars

The reasons for their objections to 'set theory' (hint - multiple infinities) are explained here - ... ntali.html

More info -
A Beka Book is a publisher affiliated with Pensacola Christian College that produces K-12 curriculum materials that are used by Fundamentalist Conservative Christian schools and homeschooling families around the world.
A Beka Book is the largest Christian textbook publisher in the world.

A Beka Book has been criticized by the University of California and National Center for Science Education for publishing information contrary to accepted historical consensus, scientific consensus, especially regarding the theory of evolution.
A Beka Book takes firm Biblical literalist and young earth creationist positions in its science curriculum, portraying the Genesis creation narrative as a fact, which goes against scientific consensus.
In particular, A Beka Book was criticized for selling works that are contradictory to the scientific consensus regarding the origins of the universe, origins of life, and evolution. In Association of Christian Schools International et al. v. Roman Stearns et al., a judge upheld the University of California's rejection of A Beka publications for preparatory use because the books are "inconsistent with the viewpoints and knowledge generally accepted in the scientific community."

This has to be fake the acting is terrible!
To most Christians, the bible is like a software license. Nobody actually reads it, they just scroll to the bottom and click 'I agree'.
