Couldn't they test the amniotic fluid and detect dna identifiers of the mother?

Probably. After all the authors of this picture accept things uncritically so that is why they don't get the idea as to why people become atheists.
The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one.

If a fetus is able to communicate, I'd tell the mother that she should get an abortion right away.

Do they think sight is our only sense? Swap the unborn people with two blind people and laugh at how little sense it makes.

I've never seen the powerstation that provides the electricity for this computer I'm on just now, I BELEVE it exists, I HOPE it exists. But thats not an arguement for god, thats an arguement for me looking into the workings of the National Grid.

All this picture is, is an arguement for selective abortion.

My sister posted that on facebook. Yugh. I simply replied with a link to 'straw man fallacy' on rationalwiki.

It's surprising how eager they (christians) are to use and applaud this image, like they shut down their critical thinking because it affirms their preconceived ideas. Then again, that's probably one of the reasons they're christians.

This year's Royal Institution Christmas Lectures taught me that foetuses listen to and remember the voices of their mothers. Pretty solid evidence that they can detect the presence of their mother very easily.
The theists that thought this meme up really should have made more of an effort to not be wrong. It's funnier if it's true.

If pro-life nutjobs want fetuses to have the same rights as grown adults, why don't they let them vote in the republican primary's?

I'm reminded here of a comment on a totally different subject made over on PZ Myers' blog, namely on this page. Courtesy of a poster called Zeno (I've highlighted the part that applies to the picture in the opening post):

It seems to me to be as sincere as it is crappy. No matter how feculent, any religiously inspired travesty will get fulsome praise from the devout. They take sincerity for quality and eagerly spoon up the most noisome dreck.

"Noisome dreck" sums up this latest meme succinctly, as does "feculent".

[EDIT: "Zeno", not "Zero". Though I suspect he'd give a Eurovision style nul pointes to this latest floater in the toilet bowl of religious drivel.]

Naw. That would require science and critical thinking and we all know scientists have a momless agenda.

It just implies that belief is only tenable if you've got the intellect of a foetus.

It reminds me of that story propagated by theists where an atheist teacher is humiliated by a theist student. The student asks his classmates if they can see the teacher's brain and if not being able to see the brain should lead to the conclusion that the teacher does not have a brain. It's the same strawman fallacy.
