Gossip isn't always useless and sometimes it is interesting to know what people believe and/or why. I'll put it under a "useless" trigger warning next time though.
Я пью за разоренный дом,
За злую жизнь мою,
За одиночество вдвоем,
И за тебя я пью, -
За ложь меня предавших губ,

За то, что Бог не спас.

No, it isn't always useless, but it may be for anyone who plays the percentages. Saying that something is 'interesting' means you are entertained by it. If you like it better than television, well, good on you.

There is something in operation over there I like to call the Thymarchy (from the Greek "thyma" meaning victim) which determines how and if you can silence dissent by claiming victimhood.

A straight, white, cis-gendered, neuro-typical male person can never claim abuse. All newcomers to the forum are considered to be this. Your rank in the thymarchy depends on how many adjectives you can strike off that list before you commit an infraction.

What if I am a lesbian, black, transgendered, idiot female who also has the crushing disability of having been born into the body of a straight, white, cis-gendered, neuro-typical male?

I think I've found the chink in their impermeable (to reason) armour!

I'm sorely tempted to register over there and post in every thread that the arguments being made are triggering me and disturbing me. I mean I know I'd be banned, but I'm wondering if the penny would drop regarding the problem with this outlook.

I agree with the sentiment. I used to drink alcoholically and while it can be devastating to mind, body and finances; I doubt it's traumatic in the same way rape is.

As a person that's struggled with alcohol addiction for most of my adult life, I have difficulty reading comments about how enjoyable it is to consume alcohol and talk of alcohol consumption in general.

Could trigger warnings be put in comments related to alcohol?

I found this thread especially difficult to read without being triggered.

The sentiment being that such things need to be stored away with warnings on so that people can't click on them, accidentally allow their eyes to wander along words that somehow cause them to magically continue reading until they fall into a desperate scenario of reliving their traumatic past?

Or the sentiment that alcoholism is, for the victim, as functionally traumatic as rape?

Ok, I guess the latter. I have to stop seeing Hattery everywhere!

I'd be interested if anyone could quote Orenda continuing to compare alcoholism and rape after her first analogy, which was simply to compare the treatment of two things that triggered some people. As far as I can see, ceepolk banned her for doing something that only occurred in other people's imaginations.

But hey, for a laugh, here's ceepolk herself on why she shouldn't be a moderator: http://atheismplus.com/forums/viewtopic ... 100#p10251
