Religious tolerance in British crown dependencies and Britis

#1  Postby viocjit » Feb 11, 2018 8:25 pm

Hello ! I'm a French and I heard that generally people don't care if you're a believer or not if you live in England , Northen Ireland (IN MY KNOWLEDGE IN THIS CONSTITUTIVE NATION OF UK WE MUST AVOID TO ASK IF THE PERSON IS CATHOLIC OR PROTESTANT) , Scotland or Wales.

Of course , that depend of zones but generally in continental UK Atheists are tolerated by the population if I'm not saying bullocks.

But I'd like to know how Atheists are generally considered by the major part of the population in Bristish crown dependencies and BOT.

Atheists are no more 'tolerated' in the UK than people who wear trousers - as over 50% of the population don't identify as religious, it's rarely an issue. It's more likely the other way round - it's the religious who are tolerated...as long as they don't bang on your door during Match of the Day to talk the good news about Jesus.

Yep. J.F.G.I

Though I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Atheists are pretty much tolerated in the British Antarctic Territory. :teef:

I wonder, to what extent is religious tolerance mandated by the British government or by Britishness itself? Could this have some bearing on population behaviour throughout its Crown dependencies and overseas territories?

What is a Balliwick anyway? Sounds vaguely obscene. :eh:

So you've been living in a bailiwick without even realising. Eww.

My previous boss would say at least once a day "that's not really in my bailiwick" or "you have to talk to X about that. That's right in his bailiwick".

I understood what it meant but I resolved myself to never investigate what it actually means. And know I've happened upon it by accident. Unacceptable.
