That's because the entity in question is a homicidal fuckwit, and has a habit of inciting homicidal fuckwits to believe in it. I cite as evidence, one
Arthur Shelton. Who murdered someone else in cold blood, just because that someone else was an atheist. Which is
exactly the sort of incident Hitch had in mind when he stated that religion poisons everything.
Of course, the usual supernaturalist response to this is to erect the No True Scotsman fallacy ("He wasn't one of us"), or some other piece of apologetic excrement aimed at trying to distance themselves from unbalanced fanatics such as Shelton. But the trouble is, supernaturalists, at bottom, all share Shelton's essential world view, namely, that an invisible magic entity is purportedly real, purportedly dictates how the universe runs, and purportedly instructs followers to engage in various behaviours. Shelton is uncomfortable for supernaturalists to face up to, because he demonstrates what happens when one takes to its logical conclusion, the matter of treating made up mythological shit as fact.
It's no wonder a day with this entity seems like a thousand years. Because all that is offered by magic entities, is ponderously interminable drudgery, relieved by occasional incidents of brutality. Kiss Magic Man's arse ... kiss Magic Man's arse ... kiss Magic Man's arse ... kiss Magic Man's arse ... kiss Magic Man's arse ... be lynched for being a heretic by other people who think you kissed Magic Man's arse the wrong way ... kiss Magic Man's arse ... kiss Magic Man's arse ... kiss Magic Man's arse ...
