To get back to the thread topic, I'd like to pose a question:

Why shouldn't bunnies be our rulers? Sounds like a fair argument to me.

I remain too impressed with Freud's vision of the human animal's compromise with existence - the defense or the deflection of our ego in our knowledge of ourselves from what there is to know about ourselves - to suppose that a human life can get itself without residue into the clear.

She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.

These comments are all well and good, but the problem is that they don't speak to the lack of bunny rulers.

Why would you ever attempt to measure something with a rabbit anyway? they are notoriously uncalibrated.

As Melissa Lane says, "modern attacks on Plato and Platonism cannot be understood without seeing them in the context of [Nietzsche’s] heavy-handed assimilation [of Plato] to Kant, an assimilation which confuses our understanding of both."

Neither bunnies nor ducks make ideal rulers.

The ideal measuring device is the hippo, allowing the skilled user to simultaneously measure length, width, depth, displacement volume - and, if one simply gets the hippo to sing, also pitch and yawn.

Of course, this last requires a bored hippo - but they generally are by the time you get through with them singing. It is absolutely worthwhile, though, as no animal yardstick yet developed can measure a yawn as widely and accurately as a hippo.
