ESP research replication failures

#1  Postby Transilvanian » Nov 04, 2016 5:14 pm

When I am reading about ESP on online science magazines, :coffee: I often see that many ESP researches, when replicated, have produced negative results(chance results). Sadly I couldn`t find any of them on the internet...
Yesterday I was arguing about this topic with a friend who said that there are experiments like Ganzfeld wich have produced positive results. Then I said that they are a lot of them with chance results... but I can`t show him an of them... Can you guys help me with this? Thanks a lot!!

There are no consistent, independent replication of Ganzfeld results. Looking into attempts to verify Ganzfeld's experiment will give your friend what he's asking you for.

Can anyone provide me with evidence with the non-existence of Unicorns, so I can totally ignore any responses, disappear for months and then reappear and ask the same inane question about Kobolds? Thanks a LOT!!

Look, I just whant to see where are those negative results, skeptics write about. There is a difference between unconvincing positive evidence and a combination of unconvincing positive evidence+null results. Thank you SafeAsMilk for you reply. I hope I will get some others too

Looking at your previous posts, you've already looked into Ganzfeld. If you've read even the wikipedia article on the topic, you'd see why his results are problematic and haven't been properly reproduced. Your OP is disingenuous.

We had a pretty thorough discussion of the Ganzfeld experiments in a previous thread:

The question to ask is: Where are the successful ESP experiments?

Santayana? Sanatayana? Look, I had five "a"s and I decided to use them all. That's all I'm saying.

What a foolish bit of nonsense that statement was. It's one of my growing collection of excruciatingly unwise, wise sayings.
