Mediums

#1  Postby Transilvanian » Jul 03, 2014 6:00 pm

Hy! Do you know famous TV mediums like James Van Praagh, Theresa Caputo, etc. who were debunked? Or who were tested by sceptics and failed?

Loads. In fact, every one of them, who have ever submitted to testing. Of course, they always object to the methodology of the testing... :)

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but here are three amusing examples:

But BlackBart has it right. You've got the burden of proof wrong way round.

Your question is pointless. (As has been repeatedly pointed out to you when you've trotted out the same question regarding ESP and Remote Viewing)

I don't whant to prove anithing,

Whether you want to prove anything or not is irrelevant - your question is still flawed.

just to know if any famous psychic medium has ever miserably failed? Thank you!

Well, try some reasoning then. If a 'medium' had actually contacted the dead in a properly conducted scientific test, do you think they wouldn't bother to tell anyone? Would they keep it quiet or would they tell every newspaper in the world?

It's well known that mediums have a high failure rate in providing satisfaction for their audience.

Being a large, I have never encountered this problem.

There are no famous psychic mediums AFAIK.

Good point. I shouldn't have overlooked that.

Sylvia Browne, James van Praag, John Edward, Sally Morgan, Derek Acorah - all have had their "readings" go tits up when tested, deliberately set up or in front of an audience.

Particularly love the line: "I can go into a semi-trance, but not a full trance."
The problem with fantasies is you can't really insist that everyone else believes in yours, the other problem with fantasies is that most believers of fantasies eventually get around to doing exactly that.

I believe it was Sylvie Browne that said that a young girl had died to her family on TV, only for many years later for the young girl to have been found well and truly alive, she had been kidnapped but not murdered. Oh and I am sure Browne is also the one that promised Randy that she would win his million dollars on TV and Randy is still bringing up the fact that she has never contacted him again.

Yep according to Wiki she died November 20, 2013 at the age of 77. She still has a shot at the money though, she could contact Randy from that grave.

But, unfortunately, only after the mother had already died herself. She went to her grave convinced her daughter was dead, thanks to Ms. Browne.

I wonder how she as a person dealt with that, was she just so deluded she brushed aside all her mistakes and just kept on believing she had the gift. Or was she such a piece of shit that she didn't even care about the damage and pain her lies were causing other people.
