By an interesting coincidence, considering some of the theories being floated in this thread and elsewhere, "romu" is Finnish for "scrap".

I think the 18m diameter (IF correct) rules out any kind of turret or swivel point. 18m is huge, enough to rule out just about any circular ship part I would think.

Just looked it up quickly, largest naval guns were on the Japanese battleship Yamato, guns were over 20m long but the turrets look like their diameter is much less than 18m.

If the scale is out, it could be a variation on this, an anchor that dragged until the shank broke off.

Probably find it's an old lava tube.

Lava tubes aren't exactly common on the fennoscandia shield. The area's pretty much geologically inert (dunno if such a word is used in geology, but you get what I mean), except for the postglacial rebound.

It is interesting to note that there is a huge discrepancy involved in the size of the "UFO" between what media outlet you believe. The English-speaking ones claim Lindberg has said the assumed object is 60 feet in diameter, while the Swedish press claims he said 60 meters. Meanwhile the "ditch" length appears to be always given in meters. It's a bit difficult to say if the pix show this latter in its entirety (or rather almost so) but if they do, then the larger size estimate for the "object" would seem to be closer to the mark and we can rule out it being a crashed Corellian YT-1300

This is just these guys trying to drum up some more bucks for their business/hobby.

All the talk about how easy/difficult/expensive diving to 87m is misses the point - if you check out a couple of videos on their website http://www.oceanexplorer.se/video.html you can see they have two small ROVs on their boat. Assuming they actually know how to operate them, it would have been a trivial exercise to drop one over the side, pilot it down to the sonar target and get some actual video of what it was.

I operated ROVs for several years with the offshore oil & gas industry and, whilst their ROVs are much more basic than the ones we used, 87m is within the operating depth range of just about any basic ROV. I find it hard to believe that any "treasure hunter" with a working ROV sitting 87m above a very unusual sonar image would not take the time to check it out.

The two part video of their "operations" (ignore the first video - just a stills compilation) does not exactly reveal an efficient professional operation. I don't speak Swedish - so I don't know what their "discussions" covered - any Swedish speakers care to check that out?

I think the object of this exercise is pretty obvious from the associated stories:

looks like the turret of a battleship.

The are very heavy and would skid - the guns fall out as does the entire turret when the ship turns over.

From that, I can't help but notice some apparent contradictions:

The odd thing about the discovery is that there is no silt on the rock, for example; it would ordinarily be covered with silt on the bottom of the sea, Lindberg said.

Divers explored the space, slowly, so as not to stir up undersea silt and interfere with digital photography.

Apparently all electrical devices stop working within 200m of the 'UFO' (even though its not flying so its more of a UO)... Apart from that one camera they got a picture with and the lights apparently.

Notice that the people that reported that it cut out electrical equipment are also getting a sub for tourists to view the thing, totally not a publicity stunt.

It cuts out electrical equipment at 200 metres, but it's only 87 metres down?

They got some 'splaining to do!
