It might very well be enforced, but that doesn't mean it's been tested in court. It only takes one group to take it further, and it could be the case that this group is deliberately provoking them with that exact aim.
It's like some stuff in the UK: there was a blasphemy law on the books, unenforced, but it took years of campaigning to get it removed. There were prayers in council chambers which turned out to be illegal when challenged in court, but still incorrectly deemed legal by Eric Pickles, who claimed he'd changed the law but apparently hadn't. It's all go, keeping religion where it belongs.

We're also not allowed to dance on Good Friday. By law.

Why ever not? It's the day of the year when they get their idol out and what could be more natural than to dance around it?

You got your quotes all mixed up.
Well, what I meant is that the head of state in the UK has a religious function. Also, you still have unelected clerics dealing with legislature, as far as I know. That is a far cry from keeping religion where it belongs.

Sorry. It's something I seem to be doing a lot these days: I've no idea why, unless it's this damnable touch-pad apology for a mouse. Will try harder.
