I believe the Magnetic Fields are also about to be back. More of this type rather than that shitty operetta bollox, I hope -

I had a dream and you were in it,
The blue of your eyes was infinite.
You seemed to be
In love with me,
Which isn't very realistic.

OK, OK. One piece of bollox, but only because it's them.

She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

I just found one of the new songs from the Magnetic Fields new 50 Song Memoir. I can't not share it, really, for reasons which will become evident.

She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.

99 Düsenjäger
Jeder war ein großer Krieger
Hielten sich für Captain Kirk
Das gab ein großes Feuerwerk
Die Nachbarn haben nichts gerafft
Und fühlten sich gleich angemacht
Dabei schoss man am Horizont
Auf 99 Luftballons

In the need of the deep.

Waiting here!

The guitar playing made me well up like my dad does when listening to his favorite oprah music. Maybe that has some inheritable component.

Oh, a ticket to see Hendrix at the Miami Pop Festival in 1968? Or, best seats in the house for hoity-toity opera at the Sydney Opera House? Hendrix, yes please, every time.

Also, strange to see that this was a "pop festival" in the 1960s. Now, you would not catch me dead at any 2017 pop festival. You could not even pay me to go. The majority of today's commercialised, mainstream junk is a cancerous parasite upon culture.

I hear ya. Opera never really resonated with me though. I do appreciate the great vocals.
I like some modern mainstream, commercialized music. Adele's good. I don't have albums, but listen to a few of her hits on YT. I like Lorde too. There must be others. Oh yeah Grimes.
But yeah, today's pop can't throw out a lineup as good as the 1968 Miami Pop Festival.
I've only heard of half of the bands, but it took place 6 years before I was born, so that's an excellent percentage, considering. :)
Performers covered a wide range of music genres,[4] and included:

The Amboy Dukes
Chuck Berry
Blues Image
The Box Tops
Paul Butterfield Blues Band
Canned Heat
Wayne Cochran
Cosmic Drum
James Cotton Blues Band
Country Joe and the Fish
José Feliciano
Fish Ray
Flatt and Scruggs
Fleetwood Mac
Marvin Gaye
The Grass Roots
Grateful Dead
Richie Havens
Ian & Sylvia
Iron Butterfly
Junior Junkanoos
Jr. Walker & The Allstars
The Charles Lloyd Quartet
Hugh Masekela
Joni Mitchell
Pacific Gas & Electric
Procol Harum
Terry Reid
Buffy Sainte-Marie
Steppenwolf
The Sweet Inspirations
Sweetwater
Joe Tex
Three Dog Night
The Turtles

I forgot to mention Sia as another modern pop star who's good. She's not actually good though, she's incredible.

YES!!! And because you've done that,

She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
