Like comedy, I don't see the point of doing horror on the phenomena of Trump or his administration. The real thing is far more frightening.

I figure I'll miss some references and nods to the old material, but maybe I can get better into this modern version.

It's aged extremely poorly. It suffers from American series length, halving the number of episodes would have set the bar higher. Even that is being kind, the "Classic" episodes are usually what's watchable from any given season.

Not all the episodes from the original Star Trek were pure gold either.

The one where Kirk, McCoy, and Spock reenact the gunfight at the OK Corral springs to mind - or the one where the alien ghost that was responsible for the Ripper murders on Earth frames Scotty for a killing on a planet the crew stops in on.

watched the first on sat then d/loaded the other 2 from iplayer...considering the plot is well-known, they did a great job with it...well-acted, directed (in the most part) and not afraid to take its time on things...the 'gruesome' stuff is more in episode one...the whole thing does a very good job of presenting how very fucking mental it was here at that point in history....
