I like the idea of modular and deliverable

Good enough for Elon ...for now at least.

Two of these would do us in Australia ( we are vaguely considering selling due to high prices  in our very desirable neighbourhood. We've been exploring kits houses here as well. We are tad too close to the storm surge line and might lose cyclone insurance within a few years.
Serviced lots that are affordable also becomes an issue.

Either income has to rise to to be carried or rented for 30% of average income or prices plunge 50% or more to get to that.
Happened in 1989 ...likely a combination of the two.

and this is excellent.

Could be heading there again. ☕

Great concept indeed, but it remains doubtful that this particular project will get off the ground. The company's founders are currently attempting to finance their project via crowd funding sites and an offer of preferential (non-voting) stocks. They themselves describe the investment as high-risk. Unsurprisingly, progress seems to be less than spectacular. The video you linked to was uploaded to Youtube in April last year. As of September this year production consists of three prototype units. Apparently Elon Musk lives in one of them whenever he spends time at his Space-X site.

Manufactured houses are pretty popular anyways and some pretty successful as far as I can see but the modular aspect of Boxable appealed. Vertical or horizontal.

Imagine has incredible designs
https://imaginekithomes.com.au

https://i-build.com.au/kit-homes-australia/

a current overview
https://stunningtinyhomesandmodulars.co ... ble-homes/

Relocatable Homes, QLD Prices

Relocatable home prices range from around $25,000 up to $100,000 in Queensland, depending on the size. We found the following quotes:

Granny-flat style relocatable: $25,000 (6-metre flat) up to $49,000 (for a 14-metre flat)

Pre-built relocatable homes: $18,900 $39,000 (12 metre x 3 metre) up to $88,000 (12 metre x 5 metre, 3 bedrooms)

Portable kit homes: $16,990 (9.8 square metres), $18,990 (13.4 square metres), up to $98,990 (100 square meters)

We've kicked around when we looked at moving to the tablelands and we have a good builder in our circle but just getting our current reno completed in a timely way is a challenge let along an entire kit home. Demand for tradies is sooooo high.

Serviced lots represent another challenge. Canada and Australia...huge amounts of land...horrid costs of shelter.... :what: :nono:
