Video Game Music Grammys!

It looks like the rest of the entertainment industry has finally accepted that video games are real entertainment: The opening song for Civilization IV has been nominated for a Grammy Award.

Inspired by this bit of news from tuco, I thought I would ask: What other songs from video games, past or present, do you folks think are just SO awesome they should get a Grammy nomination? Or at least, deserve a bit more recognition than they get?

Anything by Nobuo Uematsu would be the obvious pick (with the exception of One-Winged Angel, because as good as that song is, it gets waaaay too much freakin' hype already), so I choose this one first instead: Eternal Words, from Monster Hunter Tri.

EDIT: Provide links if you can, so we can all listen. :3

It may interest you to know that "Baba Yetu" is basically the Lord's Prayer in Swahili. Still a great song, though.

I'm a big fan of the various orchestral versions of the Legend of Zelda music.

Oh, far too many to choose. Like you, I'd say anything by Nobuo Uematsu. Revamped versions of Zelda and Metroid theme music are cool too.

I was also a big fan of this song:

I'm a total geek for old skool game music covers too; Mega Man 2 by the Advantage:

Honourable mention: Type 3 Music for Tetris!

I was interested to find that it's actually based upon an arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach's French Suite No. 3 In B Minor. I can't hear much of a connection myself :dunno:

... Thanks, now I won't be able to enjoy that song again. -_-

And are you implying that is why it got a Grammy nomination? Because it's actually a religious song and not just a score? I wouldn't put it past them.

Hm.

I would go for:

Jeremy Soule's The Road Most Travelled and Dusk at the Market from Morrowind and Oblivion respectively:

And this piece of awesome from Fallout 3:

Who doesn't like killing raiders in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, with a weapon you've cobbled together from hoover, a leaf blower, a fire-hose nozzle and a conductor and which fires fucking teddy bears, to swinging Big Bang music?

Which may or may not have actually won awards, I don't know as I don't really keep up with the gaming world anymore.

Good taste, Life. :3 I <3 SotC.

I'd also have to nominate practically the entire score from Chrono Trigger. X3

A few in particular, in piano form since they're damn close to the originals and they just rock:

I'll have to go for most of Fallout 3's music but that isn't specific for the game I suppose.

Soviet Connection from GTAIV is my most played song in iTunes (48 plays, 1 more than Shipping up to Boston) so that would be my vote. I downloaded the Vladivostock FM album because I loved the Eastern European/Russian music.

Both of these have already been posted  so I won't post them twice.
