I once agreed to stay on a low-level wage for a month of probation while still taking on a leading role, with the promise of recieving the actual wage agreed on the second month. Everything went well, but the money wasn't forthcoming, so I left. I wouldn't even have agreed to a vague promise of some more money at some unspecified time years away. That's got nothing to do with being impatient. That's just me not being an idiot.
