The band was heavily into the Dolls at the time, also Bowie, Lou Reed, and Marc Bolan. Little known fact - David Johansen, lead singer for the Dolls, performed later as Buster Poindexter (had a hit with "Hot Hot Hot"), and was the cabby in BIll Murray's "Scrooged".
