I am new to this message board, although I'm not new to message boards in general. I found Rational Skepticism by accident when I was looking up a particular individual, whose name I shall not disclose. Philosophy Forums no longer works for some unusual reason, but I was quite happy to find RS. I have no formal training in any field of religion, science, or philosophy, but they all pique my interest.

I am a former Christian who, after learning a lot about Christian theology on my leisurely time, as well as seeing different points of view, came to leave the faith. Well, that's an oversimplification, but I do suspect a lot of what I learned led me to leaving the faith. I felt free afterwards, but my interest in Christianity hasn't left me. I have plenty of books I still have not yet read.

It seems to me that I should consider myself a naturalist. It seems this is something that comes along with being an atheist, although I suppose that isn't necessarily so. I'm positive there are many who don't believe in gods, but believe in spirits. Anyway, I hope to learn new things here!
