My mantra there, and in Iraq, was "Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet."
More of a problem in A-stan than Iraq, but still something to always be aware of.
I still shudder at the memory of our intel guys in A-stan putting up a picture of a guy who'd been on our base for a local-vs-military soccer match - and who we later found out was involved in a suicide bomb attack.
