If that is correct, there will be some fascinating legal cases involving priests who took those confessions and whether they were aiding and abetting child abuse and perverting the course of justice by not reporting it.

I wonder if anyone is formally connecting what is going on in the catholic church and this particular member - who was honoured by the Pope.

Big institutions - BBC, Health, are involved. Maybe the role of a huge multi - national institution also needs looking at.

How precisely does a Catholic Priest fulfil the very clear child protection rules of the NSPCC and their role as confessor?
