I would have said no, but then I would have said the same thing if you'd asked me if they would elect a black guy with a suspiciously muslim-sounding name and I would have been wrong, so who knows?
I have no evidence and these are the only examples I can think of, but I strongly suspect that Hollywood paved the way with black actors in extremely powerful and/or respectable positions, what with Morgan Freeman playing the POTUS in Deep Impact, God in Bruce Almighty, and the director of the CIA in The Sum of All Fears. The POTUS in 24 is also a black guy.
