Fuck!

This is the type of shit that just doesn't parse for me. Why not a well tuned slide action (pump) shotgun? If I anticipated deadly contact inside a Wally-World a rifle wouldn't be my choice because;

1. I'm a single shooter possibly facing multiple opponents. A shotgun swings from target to target quickly, not requiring precise aim to be effective. Designed to shoot birds on the wing, and all that.

2.Getting hits with a single projectile when there are steel shelves and such offering deflecting opportunities is difficult in a close quarters fire fight.

3. 12 gauge "OO" buckshot (.30"~) in a standard 2.75" load will contain 9 pellets, and a 3" load contains 12. At 30 yards the pattern spread of such a load is about the size of the human torso, and gets smaller and more intense as the distance is reduced. This load can, and has, killed deer out to near 100 yards in a properly choked shotgun. Even with body armor this load could break ribs and inflict massive internal shock. Limb, and head, hits outside armor can be debilitating if not lethal.

4. A Remington model 870 can be modified to store far more than the standard 5 rounds via a magazine tube/spring replacement, and there is a you-tube video of a guy shooting a Benelli pump gun 10 times without reloading. Dropping a fresh round in the open ejection port and jacking the action closed takes less than a second, and ramming fresh ammo into the loading tube can be done very quickly.

5. A well made pump action shotgun, in the hands of one familiar with the weapon, is almost impossible to jam. Even after extended shooting, to the point the barrel will burn ya, these guns just keep shooting. Mixing loads only impacts the downrange effects, and felt recoil is increased, and these guns just work.

Luckily I don't live in such a delusional state that I think I need to carry a combat ready weapon into Wally-World. Most people have no fucking idea what it's like to be in a fire fight, and the notion of a lone shooter taking on a "death squad" or meth crew, and surviving, is stupid. If that idiot thinks he's helping protect folks he's beyond hope. With all the crazy shit going on in the world why wouldn't just about everyone freak if they saw this? Hell, It freaks me out, and I am a gun owner.

20+ years ago I bought a stainless steel muzzle loading rifle at Wally-World. They walked me to the front door to make sure folks didn't freak. I can't imagine what store security thought with this fundite pretending to be Rambo walking around.
