You'd probably like Oregon, at lleast the Western part of the State (the Eastern part is one vast desert). My eldest son moved there from California and has lived in Eugene nearly his entire adult life and raised a family there. I've always found it to be quite pleasant, if a bit on the wet side. Eugene is a university town and a counter culture hotbed.
I'm sure I'd love Oregon. Plenty of scenery and wildlife, huge snows in the mountains, and not as cold as where I live now.
There's one obvious problem though, I don't think they have woodchucks in western Oregon. I'd have to befriend other species of marmots.
