A two-story growing space is actually not necessary to grow MJ, an 8 foot ceiling height will do. And trash barrels would be overkill because a 12 inch tall pot about 15 inches in diameter is all that's needed. Still, growing out doors is much preferred, plants enjoy sunlight over grow lights and saves a ton of electricity.

You can grow them in your garden. Anyone asks, tell them they're "Japanese Marigolds."

RE Indoor growing;

Except a grow room can be charged with CO2, bugs can be eliminated, and birds won't shit on them, deer won't eat them, hail and wind storms are no threat, the humidity can be controlled (and soil moisture content controlled if not employing hydrophonic methods), the hours of light can be set, there is no seasonal "down time" and no drifting pollen from a male plant in the area will ruin your crop. The best pot I've ever seen has consistently been produced indoors.
