Furthest I ever shot at was 800m with a L96A1. There is a special kind of skill to people who can shoot consistently at that sort of range. I'd gone from nailing targets at 400m with nice groups under 25mm to being happy if I hit the target at all. The ballistics and windage starts interfering with simple straight shooting at that sort of range, changing it from simply lining up and breathing properly, easy squeezy, bang to, what's the terrain, wind, temperature, humidity, recent weather all like and it's starting to get into weighing up where your target will be when the bullet arrive ( It was around that time I realised I was best off where I was back in the MG section. Lots of room for missed rounds in the MG section).
My mind can't compute a shot over 4 times that distance.
