Well, if that is the way you want to see it .. I defend their right to speak their mind, granted such speech is legal, respectively I do not call for disciplinary actions against them.
The way I see it, is that even if I would want to and manged to silence them, they would still think it. If they would think it, not only my PR would not be very effective but it would probably not help my cause either. The best way to convince them is to show them and frankly someone has to do the actual work.
Deterred from a job .. by what? Being emotionally shut down - not sure what it actually means but I take it it means being offended - by occasional silly opinion? As I said, its takes bit more for me to be deterred and this I will reflect in my one vote.

edit: Let me just add that we talk about women who, as they repeatedly claimed, like the traditional division of labour/tasks in relationship/family/society where men fix power outlets, open doors and bring flowers and women decorate, iron and keep order. So what am I to tell them? You like it wrong, you have wrong ideas?
