The problem is that people are not aware they were erased. They show up to vote and cast a provisional vote. They then have 36 hours to renew an ID and show up with the current ID and second piece of paper to prove your residence. During a work week, the 36 hours is for poor people.
You can of course do all that in good time, but not every county informs voters. I get a card for every election telling where to vote.
