Strange though it may seem to those unfamiliar with Israeli politics, Netanyahu is on the moderate side of his party, Likud. Those on the right of the coalition only want to oust him to replace him with someone more amenable to their views.

As such, if Yesh Atid take the poisoned chalice and try to form a government, they'd likely see it brought down the moment Netanyahu resigns. There are maybe some quick wins they could score in domestic politics in the meantime, but probably nothing that could boost their popularity in the long run enough to stay in power.

For those hoping for something that might advance the peace process, it's simply not happening. Two thirds of the Knesset is in the hands of parties who just won't want anything to do with it. There'd need to be at least a twenty seat swing before constructive talks are even a possibility and a far bigger one than that for anything to happen on the questions of settlements, Jerusalem and a right of return for Palestinians.
