I have to take the opposite position, personally. As Republicans have become more rabid and grifters have found more value in entertaining their most extreme and bizarre notions, truth has simply become a hindrance. Why would it make sense for Matt Walsh to take a measured, realistic approach to cancel culture versus the Inquisition? His audience already wants to portray themselves as the victims of modern society, it only makes sense for him to lean into that and further line his own pockets.
