30 complaints? It looks like the whole ACL was out in Force. Seriously, 30 complaints? Do they not expect that at least 30 of Brisbane's homophobes would complain?

Anyway...

The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) says a grass-roots campaign has been successful in removing sexualised advertising at Brisbane bus shelters.

Well done! The Billboard perfectly complied with Australian law, but it didn't comply with the ACLs stone age ethics. Obviously the right decision was to take it down. Free speech wins again! (ACL free speech that is, where the ACL can say "that billboard offends me take it down", and if it doesn't get taken down religious freedom is being trampled upon.)

ACL’s Queensland State Director Wendy Francis has applauded the decision of Adshel, the provider of advertising at bus shelters, to remove condom advertisement targeting homosexual men.

How many kids too young to see this picture catch the bus by themselves anyway? If they do, they are with their parents who can easily shelter their kids eyes (if they are that stupid).

The ads were part of a marketing campaign agency Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC), which receives state government funding.

Yea, FROM TAX-FUNDS THAT THE RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS WHO FUND YOUR BUNCH OF LUNATICS DON'T PAY A CENT OF. What makes you think you get a say in where other peoples money goes?

“The ad featured two men in an act of foreplay with a large condom pictured in the left hand corner and the slogan ‘RIP&ROLL’ as well as the wording ‘A safe sex message from healthy communities’,” Mrs Francis said.

So what? I've seen more graphic beer commercials.

Ms Francis said it went against prevailing community standards to introduce sexuality to young children through forced exposure in public.

These adverts were at a BUS STOP. Notorious places for children to be hanging around aye? 1. The advert complies with the law and can be placed anywhere. 2. They chose a place where only adults will take notice and understand what the ad means. 3. If parents object to advertising that abides by the guidelines/laws, then it is their job to protect their children from roaming the train stations and bus stops alone. Which is an incredibly easy task if you ask me.

“A massive groundswell of people power has won the day when it comes to the bus shelters which have been pulled down over night,” she said.

30 complaints, thats fuck all. The ads were taken down for no good reason, this is an injustice for freedom of speech.

However, Mrs Francis called for GOA Billboards to remove the same offending ads on billboards which remained on busy roads, such as a billboard on an intersection on Sandgate road.

Now children are driving by themselves? If you're offended by this poster, and you have children in the car, drive down another street. The world doesn't revolve around your stone age ethics. There was no offending billboard, it didn't break any law.

“Complaints have been lodged to the Advertising Standards Bureau (ASB) and General Outdoor Advertising (GOA) billboards,” she said.

“We are disappointed with the response of GOA billboards in not removing the billboards. The company said it won’t remove the advertising unless directed by ASB.”

Point out which guideline the billboard broke, then complain. Don't complain and just hope the rules will be bent for you're own special request. The ACL is clearly against freedom of speech, in fact they are against all freedom. Please never bother complaining that religious freedom in Australia is being trampled on ever again, because the last thing you guys want is freedom. So fuck off.

I wonder if this comment will make it. edit: ahhahaha their site is down.
