I drank Windhoek in S.A, which IIRC is a reinheitsegebot beer. Can't get it here. My current tipple is Dos Equis lager, though their amber is very nice too.
I think climate has a lot to do with it. Florida is muggy, buggy, and hot, so the light Mexican lagers go down nicely. Winters up in the mountains is time for porters, stouts, and Belgian ales. I really like Anubis Imperial coffee porter, which is brewed by Laughing Dog brewery.
