This video says something distinctly unpleasant about the human species ...

In short, the creators of a role playing game, created a 'virtual ecology' within the game, in which various creatures would interact with each other as part of an ecosystem embedded within the game. What's more, after a lot of software development effort, they succeeded in getting it to work.

What happened?

When the game was let loose, gamers came along, and treated this feature in much the same manner as Victorian "Great White Hunters". They set about exterminating everything that lived, simply out of the sheer pleasure of killing.

Am I the only one here who finds this revelation seriously depressing?
