as far as I'm aware raw bones are ok, when their cooked they can splinter and damage the guts, so aren't so good for them
my dog was rather useless in that regard, get him a raw bone and he wouldn't look at it till it started to smell, any chance he could get a cooked bone though... he'd eat those......
