When I was a kid and hadn't heard of Hitler or learned to recognize his face, a classmate of mine showed me a picture of a big group including him as a young man. (I think it must have been from either the closest German thing to "high school", or the art school he flunked out of.) He pointed to Hitler and said something about that guy in the picture being really evil. I thought it was somebody else, so I argued, saying that guy wasn't evil, he was just strict & stuffy, maybe occasionally "mean" at worst.

I wish I could also say that the other kid I was talking to also mentioned Hitler's name and I "corrected" him about that as well, because even the name has some similarity, but that didn't happen.

The guy I thought was in the picture was Higgins.
