He didn't have any "magical powers" and I have always suspected that all of those terrible things done under Nazi rule were simply what the people that did them wanted to do. Hitler simply gave them the imprimatur to do.The trials Nuremberg should have gone on for more years than they did and many more Nazi's should have shared Goebbels and Keitel's fates.

The mustache did nothing to make the man more "impressive" and was probably grown by him to "spice up" his rather bland face.

Agreed on all counts.
Demonifying Hitler only serves to alleviate the guilt of his generation, to distance oneself from the possibility that one might just have played along in this system, if one had had the chance and sweeping the biggest issue under the rug: Not that one man lead, but that millions followed.

Good points. Millions followed.

Read Sebastian Haffner's "Defying Hitler: A Memoir", which gives an inside view of Germany's descent into madness. In retrospect, it seems unfathomable that people were taken in by nazism, but remember that it was a process stretched out over many years. It was very much a slippery slope.
