On a more scientific note: is it possible for cancer to go away without treatment?

Yes, it is. It's called spontaneous regression of cancer. Here's a link for further information http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3312698/. I had a much older cousin who was diagnosed with malignant pancreatic cancer. He refused treatment due to the poor rate of survival and probably because he didn't have health insurance. After some months he felt better, and his GP did some Xrays that showed that the tumors were nearly gone about a year after diagnosis. He continued in good health for 18 years and then died from pancreatic cancer.

Did Dirk Benedict have this cancer and cure it with a macrobiotic diet? I remember when this came out in the early 80s. The type of cancer was never mentioned, nor was it mentioned whether it was a malignant tumor. What 26 year old wants their prostate operated on for a lifetime of problems? He was smart if this were the case, IMHO, to try something before accepting surgery. There is evidence that a high fat diet can increase your risk of cancer, so it isn't really out there that eliminating a lot of crap the normal American eats would improve your health and immune system. Some cancers are hormonal based and I think these are the ones that have the most potential to be affected by an improvement in diet. That said, my cousin (generation older than me), who was a FANATIC about macrobiotic diets and followed one for 35 years still got breast cancer.

Ok, after I typed all of this, I realized that this post was from 2012. I'll leave it anyway. :snooty:
