A joke is best told when you have a sense of humor and when you are present in person. Textually, jokes or sarcasms do not work out as well due to inadequate information (missing the nonverbal component) and contextless, fragmented nature of online communication. By the way, the film mentions this lackluster part of our communication along with other problems of our modern society.
