Explain what happened? Well, you went on a ghost walk and experienced some stuff. The problem is that people were freely wandering around, the guides are presumably paid so it's not in their best interests to tell you the truth about wires (presuming they know it) and EMF detectors detect electromagnetic fields, not ghosts.
